PS – Sorry, I mistakenly inserted a wrong link (that wouldn’t bring a loss of quality in the post) but I have already corrected it.
If you happen to be one of the two followers of our blog, I must apologize for the monopolization of posts. But once more, it has not been so due to my having too much initiative but instead for my colleagues having none
I’ll be fast – today song’s a great song whose original version I have known for a while, and recently I discovered two versions in two artists that I have listened to recently: The Cranberries (I did not forget my promise, but it is still not this time) and Dolly Parton (who has already been referenced in this blog due to a cover and an original).
But the main focus must go to the original version, which belongs to Elvis Presley, the King - not only because he must be given credited for having written a great melody and quite powerful lyrics (that unfortunately are still true more that 40 years later), but also because it is still the best version in my opinion (at least from the three I know). Hope you like it too
To vary things a little, today I’ll post a song not from a band, but from the “The Band“.
Initially a support group of several singers, especially Bob Dylan, they eventually became a band and came out with that name precisely for being “the band” of several frontmen.
I got to know this song I’m posting – The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down – from Joan Baez, and although I have been addicted to her version for a while, and although it was the most successful version, and although I am a fairly good fan of Joan Baez, I think the best version of the song is a live version from “The Band“.
Today “I bring you” an Italian pianist that I got to know through an Italian friend (to whom I thank). The song I’m going to post was the first I ever heard from Ludovico Einaudi. 3 years have passed and I have listened to most of Ludovico’s discography, but Nuovole Bianche (White Clouds) is still my favourite – if you listen carefully to it, you’ll surely understand why!
All that’s left is to draw your attention to the first comment in youtube
