Hailie’s songs

Hailie Jade Mathers Scott Eminem daughter

Hailie Mathers

Hailie Jade Mathers. Do you know who she is? Well, she used to be quite known when I was a teenager and lived in the Portuguese Detroit (the epithet is my idea, at least as far as I know. I thought it would be applicable as we have the center of the declining automotive industry in the country, and a relatively poor city for the country standards, like Detroit). Even if you don’t know her, you probably know her father, one of the first artists to feature this blog.

If you know some Eminem’s songs, you’ve probably heard the name Hailie somewhere in the lyrics, as it pops up quite often. Some of my Eminem favourite songs are those more melodic raps that he wrote to his daughter, like MockingbirdWhen I’m gone, and my all time favourite – Hailie’s song. That’s the song I bring you today. Even if you’re not a great fan of rap, give it a try and listen to this song – my father can’t stand rap and he used to listen to this one with me and he quite liked it! Hope you like it too 😉

A different job!

I have written a post about jobs, but there’s one that missed me. Fortunately, I can now compensate for that mistake and I use this post to promote the romantic Flo Rida‘s song that mentions the kind of job that I forgot to mention. It’s not the first time this theme is referred in a song  (there’s plenty more here), but it’s always touching to listen to such beautiful poems.

Hope you feel the same way and let your emotions be filled by these amazing lyrics! 😉

Pretty Little Butterfly

Crazy Town The Gift of Game ButterflyIs your memory good? I’m bringing you today the one-hit band called Crazy Town, remember them? They released their first (of only two) album in 1999 and they toured supporting the Red Hot Chili Peppers . One year after they released the single “Butterfly“, which samples part of Chili PeppersPretty Little Ditty (by then a 10-year old song, from the album Mother’s Milk, the first with Frusciante). Butterfly was a great hit in the U.S, in Canada, and in most European countries.

I bring you both songs today, as I like them both – Butterfly as a childhood memory (The Gift of Game was actually one of my first CD’s!) and Pretty Little Ditty as a great song from the great Frusciante and Flea 😉

Starting with the oldest (notice Flea at 0:14)

And finishing with the most recent

Aloe Blacc

Hi,

I bring you another great singer. I´m not a fan of rap and soul music but I like Aloe Blacc songs. He began his music career in 1995 as a rapper but his first solo album was only released in 2006 and it was called “Shine Through”. I found Aloe Blacc because the song “I Need a Dollar” is the opening title track on the HBO series, How to Make It in America. This is another great singer to hear when we want to chill out. There are some of my favorite songs:
